Enlistment Bonus for Shipping Reinstituted
Navy Recruiting Command released its second active duty Enlistment Bonus (EB) message for Fiscal Year 2022. The effective date is tomorrow, December 16, 2021. The new EB message remains the same as the guidance released November 20th with but one exception, Enlistment Bonus for Shipping (EBSHP).
Enlistment Bonus for Shipping (EBSHP)
For those who are reclassified (Note 1 and 2) or enlist on or after December 16, 2021, and ship to boot-camp in the months of January or February 2022, are eligible for an enlistment bonus of $4,000.
EBSHP only exists while the Future Sailor is in the Delayed Entry Program, and it is earned and payable upon graduation from boot-camp, and it may not be recouped due to reclassification or separation. Those eligible need to ensure EBSHP is listed in their contract!
- Note 1: Newly contracted Applicants or Future Sailors currently in DEP and scheduled to ship after January 31, 2022 that are reclassified or rolled in to ship before 31 January are eligible for EBSHP. Additionally, newly classified Applicants or Future Sailors currently in DEP and scheduled to ship after 28 February that are reclassified or rolled in to ship before 28 February are eligible for EBSHP.
- Note 2: Future Sailors who were contracted to ship in December 2021, January 2022, or February 2022 before the date of December 16, 2021 are not eligible for EBSHP. The only exception is a Future Sailor scheduled to ship in February 2022 that rolls in to ship in January 2022.
Prior Service members, either Navy or Other Services, re-enlisting into active duty are eligible for bonuses. They must enter active duty in pay grade E-4 or below, meet specific bonus eligibility and did not receive a bonus in their first enlistment.

- For Special Warfare Boat Operator (SB) ATF, the payment occurs following graduation from the crewman qualification training (CQT).

With the 2022 military basic pay and allowances (if eligible -- BAH, etc.), billet pay (Sea Pay, Sub Pay, Hazardous Duty, Flight Pay, etc.), 30 days leave, Tuition Assistance, medical and dental benefits for the entire family, etc., your first few years of service could net a greater level of compensation never before experienced for those serving. This should be at least enough incentive to call your local recruiter for more information!
