Drugs and other controlled substance, including synthetic and naturally occurring, definitions and schedules
According to the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Drug Shedule Definitions are as follows:
- Schedule I
- Substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.
- Schedule II
- Drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with a high potential for abuse, with use potentially leading to severe psychological or physical dependence.
- Schedule III
- Drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with a moderate to low potential for physical and psychological dependence.
- Schedule IV
- Drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with a low potential for abuse and low risk of dependence.
- Schedule V
- Drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with lower potential for abuse than Schedule IV and consist of preparations containing limited quantities of certain narcotics.

Synthetic Drugs and Other Miscellaneous Substances
Controlled substance analogues (synthetic/designer drugs), natural substances (e.g., fungi, excretions), chemicals (e.g., chemicals wrongfully used as inhalants), propellants and/or prescribed or over-the-counter drugs or pharmaceutical compound with the intent to induce intoxication, excitement, or stupefaction of the central nervous system.
Products that contain synthetic cannabinoid compounds, such as Spice, Genie, Blaze, Dream, Ex-Ses, Spark, Fusion, Dark Knight, Yukatan Fire, and K2. Natural substances such as salvia divinorum and mushrooms. Common items abused by inhaling or huffing, such as dust off, glue, paint thinner and gasoline. Over-the-counter products such as Robitussin and Coricidin HBP.
